How would working with a coach benefit me?

You may not be an Olympic athlete but in the “game” of life you are an important, unique player who deserves to be the best you can be. How do athletes do this? They work with experienced, skilled coaches who challenge them to move beyond their perceived limitations. And they gain that extra “something” that comes from working with someone directly who puts you front and centre and supports you as you achieve results in your life and chosen career you never thought were possible. The sky’s the limit in coaching. Coaching is learning by discovery.

But I’m not an executive or a famous person. Can I still    benefit from coaching?

The answer is a resounding “yes”. If you have a burning desire to make your life count, are willing to look at your world with new eyes and are open to sharing this process with another person, coaching is the perfect option for you.

Think about it…Imagine what is possible for you when you have someone on your side, by your side who has infinite patience along with the courage to push when you need a push? A person who supports your special talents, pointing them out when you may be unaware of what they are?

Having a collaborator helps keep you focused on what’s important in your life. Hiring a growth coach is the most important investment you will ever make. You are the valuable asset you are investing in.

Are you worth investing in?       Yes?

So what are you waiting for? As Carl Jung once said “Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.”

Who hires a coach and why?

Coaches coach men and women of all ages, all professions, all belief systems, all value systems. For example, a business executive or manager may seek coaching for increased self-awareness, a more balanced life, better goal setting, less stress or discussions about issues they may not feel free to share with their colleagues. This may take the form of working out business problem issues or developing strategies.

Are you a small business owner/entrepreneur? You may wish to move out of your solitary bubble. It’s hard being a sole proprietor, especially if you work at home. No one to bounce ideas off; clarify thinking with; support you. (I’m very familiar with this one having been a sole proprietor for 18 years prior to my present career. How many times I could have used a coach to help me figure out one challenge or another!)

And then there’s our personal lives. Coaches help you figure out how to create a more satisfying life. Make friends. Network. Have fun.

No matter what your desire is, all people who hire

coaches have the following things in common:

  • They want to discover their true life purpose.

  • They want to live that purpose.

  • They want to create more in their lives.

  • They want to connect with their unique brilliance.

  • They want to create lives of abundance.

  • They want to live lives of challenge rather than problems.

Does coaching differ from therapy?

Both coaching and therapy, if done well, engage collaboration and participation as the keys to change and growth.

However, coaching is a relationship built on what is possible rather than on what has happened in your life to bring you to where you are today. Therapy centres on the “why” and coaching supports the “why not!?”

Coaches are consultants with added value. Not only do we teach you the how of doing something, we stay with you through the process of becoming until you’ve got it and are well on your way to long-term success.

And in case you’re wondering if a friend, spouse or relative could do the same for you….consider this:  Friends, spouses and relatives may have great advice for you but do they have the professional training, experience and objectivity you need?

A good coach will not only help open your eyes to new strategies for life and business but will keep you focused.  They are your best friend. A mentor with a professional edge who has the kinds of life and/or career and business experience you personally want to tap into. You want to connect with someone who is not only an experienced coach but also experienced in life.

What is the focus of coaching?

YOU! That’s it in a simple nutshell. Coaching is about both your personal and professional lives. To become the strong, functioning, total human being you were meant to be, it is important to recognize that you are a combination of your work and personal life. A coach encourages you to “not leave yourself at the door” when you go to work. All parts of your life overlap and intertwine and if you follow your conditioning and become separate parts, you enter the dangerous territory of unhappiness, dissatisfaction and often, depression. So, if you want to integrate in the shortest period of time possible, coaching is your answer.

Why and how does coaching succeed where other models may fail?

The coaching relationship is one of equals walking this part of their journey together. The coach is a person. She is a person with life and business experience that she shares with you. In choosing your coach, ask about the person’s life. What have they accomplished? What are some of the most important life lessons they’ve learned? Would they refer you to another type of professional or coach if they could not help you? Do they have a coach of their own?

Coaching succeeds because of the partnering that makes your job easier. Your job in putting a stop to those things that trip you up and drag you down.

Your coach keeps you on track and creates momentum for you so that you can more easily achieve your goals. This is why weekly sessions are so important until you have fully integrated your new behaviours and skills.

One of the really important benefits of coaching with me is that you learn the truth of opposites….to take your Self more seriously and also to stop taking yourself so darn seriously.

How does coaching work and how much does it cost?

I work with clients by telephone or in person for an hour each session. I work only on a six month contract basis which involves 24 sessions. The fee for this is $4800.00 plus 5% GST. If needed, the weekly sessions are supplemented by e-mail support at no extra charge.

Corporate fees are available on request.

How do I determine if coaching is a good investment for me?

Ask yourself this question, “What might the cost be to me and my business not to have a coach right now?” In accounting terms this is the “opportunity cost” i.e. what it costs you to not have something. The opportunity cost is the fastest growing cost to business today, given the extreme pace of events in our modern world.

Another determinant is the experience others have had with me as their coach. I will be happy to give you references.

As well, you will hopefully interview me. Ask all the questions you have ever had about coaching and more specifically, coaching with me.

After you have exhausted the above, all that’s left is that “knowing” that you need to do something to make your life more satisfying and synchronicity has led you to my door. Take a leap of faith, trust that I am the coach you’ve been looking for and commit to the process. Sometimes it will be hard but more times than not, the ride will be awesome. Guaranteed!
